Now What – CTA

During NaNoWriMo’s “Now What?” Months in January and February, we provide resources and tools to help you get started revising your novel draft. You can participate by using the resources on our website, going through our step-by-step Revision Workbook, or setting a personal writing goal around revising your novel—it all depends on how much time and interest you have.

If you decide to set a specific goal, we suggest trying to revise the first 50 pages of your novel three times, which makes 150 pages total. That’s because unless you’re some kind of revision wizard, you probably won’t revise your entire novel draft in these two months. Revision can take a long time, and involve many drafts. Some authors spend years revising their novels! Think of the “Now What?” Months as your jumping off point into what happens after a first draft, and your chance to practice and grow all your revision skills.

We hope you end up with a better understanding of how to revise a novel and the various publishing pathways open to you—and maybe some dedicated time spent revising your November novel!
